Social Media Etiquette and Expectations

We ask all parents to consider if information they are writing or passing on through any social media is factual, kind and necessary before sending.

Let us  Teach Ourselves so we can Teach Our Children.

  • Socrates once said if it is not true, or kind or useful do you need to tell!
  • One day a man runs up to Socrates and said: “I have to tell you something about your friend who…”
  • “Hold up” Socrates interrupts him “About the story you’re about to tell me, did you put it trough the three sieves?”
  • The man was not familiar with the three sieves.
  • So Socrates continued: “The first is the sieve of Truth. Are you sure that what you are going to tell me is true?”
  • “To tell the truth”, said the man, “no, I just overheard it”.
  • “What about the sieve of Goodness. Will you tell me something good or positive about my friend?”
  • The man shook his head.
  • “Now, what about the last sieve. Is it necessary to tell me what you’re so excited about?”
  • When the man bowed his head in shame.
  • Socrates smiled and said “Well, if the story you’re about to tell me is neither true, good or necessary, just forget it and I don't need to know.”

The story about the three sieves is something we can apply to our lives. Please use this resource with your children to build a kind social media culture.

Socrates and the three sieves

Why not focus on “uptalking” others, concentrating on their strengths?

SCHOOL CLOSURE IN THE EVENT OF BAD WEATHER OR OTHER UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES

If we are forced to close the school before the start of the school day then:

  • A notice will be uploaded onto the Home Page of our school website as soon as possible after the decision to close has been made.
  • We will send a message to parents informing them of the closure. This will be sent via Text2Parents.  However, if the service is down then this may not be possible.
  • You will find a list of school closures on the following website: www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures
  • Local radio stations will also announce a list of school closures in the region.

In the event of us being forced to close the school during the school day then:
